# Water line replacements

We replace private water services that leak, lose pressure, or are still galvanized or failing poly. We locate the break before we open the yard, and we do not replace a line that only needs a repair.

The private water service is the line from the house to the curb stop or meter. Wet spots in the yard, a sudden drop in pressure, or a meter that spins with every fixture off usually point here, not to a single faucet.

Galvanized and older poly services fail from the inside. A patch on one leak does not fix the rest of that run. We replace the private side when the pipe is done. A single isolated break on otherwise sound pipe is a [water and sewer](/services/water-sewer) repair, not a full replacement.

Village-owned mains, meter pits the water department owns, and the street-side of the curb are not ours. We will say which side we think you are on before anyone digs.
