# Hydro jetting

We jet private drains with high-pressure water when grease, scale, or sludge has packed the line and a cable only punches a hole through it. Jetting is cleaning, not a repair, and a collapsed pipe still has to come out.

Hydro jetting uses water at pressure to scour the inside of a drain. It is the right tool when grease, soap, or mineral scale coats the wall and a cable keeps finding the same slow-down a week later. Kitchen mains and restaurant lines collect that kind of buildup. Roots and a hard blockage still often start with [power rodding](/services/drains); jetting is what we use when the pipe is open enough to clean, not punch through.

We need a usable [cleanout](/services/sewer-cleanouts) or another honest access. Jetting a line that has already collapsed or gone oval can make the failure worse. If that is what we find, we stop and treat it as [water and sewer](/services/water-sewer) work, or we [camera](/services/sewer-camera) the run before anyone claims the line is clear.
